Please see my Vitenam War/hippie novel "Without Leave" published in 2014 by Black Mountain Press about a Navy man who goes AWOL in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district in 1967 and meets and artist and college dropout. Their personal journey constitutes the narrative. A lot of research into the military and culture of the times went into the creation of the story. At least please read the Amazon reviews. Thanks.
Please check out my book "Happiness Is A Warm Gun-A Vietnam Story". My story is just one about a young couple in love during one of the most turbulent times in this country's history. We lived our relationship through letters, phone calls, violence and determination to survive. It's a story about two Baby Boomers; one who fought for his country; and the other, a hippie who peacefully tried to make her government aware of a new voice, a voice of non-violence and peace. We were a couple whose love survived, against the odds; but in the end; whose lives were almost destroyed by that horror.
Please consider "Auspicious Journey -The Gift of Peace in a Time of War"
It was recently published and has earned excellent (five star) Amazon reviews.
Although it is set in the context of the Viet Nam war it not especially a "war story."
Please give it a read - you will not be disappointed.
Thank you,
Bruce Junior West

For a completely different take on the Vietnam War (e.g., did you know that 97% of all the US military personnel sent to Vietnam from 1962 to '72 came back alive?) check out "Long Daze at Long Binh," a humorous memoir recently published by two Vietnam medics. Exceptionally well written, very funny, averaging 4 stars on Amazon, 4.2 stars on Goodreads. Vietnam Veterans of America calls it "the best book about Rear Echelon life in Vietnam during that time period." Read sample chapters at www.longbinhdaze.com
Jerry Dallape/author of (Vietnam guns and fury). My book is about my 13 months in Vietnam as an M-60 machine gunner in F. company 2/26 Marines, in 1967. Please check it out. Thank you
