----
With “Learn German – The City of Words” the Goethe-Institut is issuing an online game for German learners at Level A1. This free game combines elements from hidden-object puzzles with both co-operative and competitive multi-player games where everyone learning German at beginners’ level can expand their vocabulary skills and compare themselves with others. Playfully presented language exercises transfer basic grammar structures of the German language. The playful approach of “Lern Deutsch – Die Stadt der Wörter” shows that learning German is not difficult at all. And it’s fun!
Update: Now with new “Unicampus” level

This is a good idea for social connection mixed with a bad learning aspect. It pronounces a word for you and you have to spell it out, but it doesn't tell you the translation of it or of the sentence it's used in like "Die Sehenswürdigkeit is schön." "Sehenswürdigkeit" means "showplace" or "sight" and translated it means "The sight is beautiful." There is no way an English speaker would be able to find that out on their own with the image they gave, which was a random building of some sort.

This app used to be amazing. I completed the whole thing a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed playing. Now I can't seem to log back into my account or even create a new one. I had to do the introduction twice now and after selecting an avatar, it's just stuck whilst loading. I hope it gets sorted out soon.

App would be fun, if it wouldn't kick you out every 5 minutes. It's a great App for people who want to practice some common words and phrases. Please fix all the server issues.
