Actor Angelina Jolie, Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency, spoke about the more than 5,000 children who arrive in the United States each year unaccompanied by adults. These children, many victims of human trafficking, persecution, and other abuse, were alone in their attempts to navigate the complex refugee and immigration court system. Ms. Jolie helped found a National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children to help them obtain lawyers free of charge for their legal proceedings. Ms. Jolie also talked about hardships the children faced, how the new Center could assist them, and other needs. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
