In Cold Blood...I do NOT believe that this book represents the evil inside...I mean even Truman empathises with the younger of the two murderers. I didn't feel that these characters were truelly evil. Anyone else feel this way?

I believe that In Cold Blood does show the evil that lurks inside the 2 killers. Sure, Capote empathizes with Perry, but they did burtally murder a family "in cold blood". Brutally murdering people is, in my opinion, an act of evil.
Let us not forget about the 2 other killings in cold blood: the executions of the murderers by the State.

I was shocked to discover about 2 am that Lord Darlington was entertaining one of Hitlers henchmen. He feels he is saving the country and is "lead down the garden path" by Hitler who is deviously fooling him and maybe a few other British leaders. I has previously only seen the movie and missed all this somehow ..thought it was a romance!! Its not a romance as Mr. Stevens really has no interest in romance.
I called my hubby (history major) and he told me this really happened. I didn't add this book to the list, someone else did but I just voted on it. STILL UPSET about it. Very subtle writing so you really have to pay attention. I won't read anymore of them as I get too MAD.

Yes, certainly I remember Darlington was an appeaser. I suppose I thought of him more as hapless than evil, but perhaps that excuses him from an awareness of his actions. At any rate, for me the focus of the book was Stevens and Darlington was more of a sideshow.

They were vicious killers, no doubt about it. Is murder not evil?

Richard Hickock was a pedophile and a rapist, facts which are referenced in the book. He also runs a dog over in the street on purpose.
