There’s a new king in town at the top of the communication & media studies ranking, with the University of Amsterdam climbing one place to dethrone the University of Southern California. The University of Amsterdam is one of seven Dutch universities in this year’s ranking, although it’s the only one in the top 50.

Further down the top 10, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has climbed an astonishing 12 places up to 10th this year. No other university in the top 30 has managed such an improvement.
